Blood Bikers by Chase Hospital with one of the Easter Eggs

WFL were delighted when 11 Blood Bikers roared up to the Chase Hospital as part of this years Easter Egg Appeal 2017.

The Blood Bikers are a volunteer organisation throughout the UK. They operate 365 days a year, delivering blood for transfusions, platelets or other blood products, tissue samples for analysis, X-Rays, scans, Human Milk for premature babies. They make their journeys during weekday evenings between 19.00 and 06.00 hrs and 24 hours a day at weekends. They also proudly support the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

We think this is exactly the sort of worthy cause that Woolmer Forest Lions should support and we hope that members of our community will enter into the Easter Egg Appeal 2017, and support both us your local lions club and the Blood Bikers.

You never know, one day they may save your life, or someone close to you.

I will publish shortly a full list of the local outlets who are participating this year in the Easter Egg Appeal 2017.

Some more photographs for you to enjoy, after the PR Shoot we invited the Blood Bikers to enjoy a drink and a burger at the Flamin Tucker Burger Van on the A325. Our thanks to Ian and Charlotte for looking after our fantastic guests, who came from Aldershot, Fareham, Four Marks, Gosport, Liss, Portsmouth, Romsey, Southampton, Waterlooville and Winchester. Our thanks to Steve Morton for the information and to all the Bikers who joined us at the Chase Hospital. We also thank Chase Hospital for allowing us to take the photographs on their premises.

Dick Balchin and Brian Woods of Woolmer Forest Lions present Angela Jackson with a cheque for £500

On March 16, 2017, Dick Balchin and Brian Woods presented Angela Jackson of the Headley Down Nature Reserve Trust with a cheque for £500. The HDNR Trust are looking to develop a 2-acre site between the Heatherlands Estate and the Land of Nod at Headley Down, into a Nature Reserve.

The donation will go to improving the site, clearing weeds and rubbish and the Trust are looking to place a seat and a notice board along the path. The notice board will look to explain the wildlife who inhabit the reserve and hopefully a sign that marks the WFL Clubs logo.

Angela Jackson thanked the WFL and the public for supporting their venture, and said they were delighted to receive so uch.

WFL - BULB PLANTING

Woolmer Forest Lions planted some bulbs near the Memorial in November 2016.

Now that Spring is here, we thought you might like to see how things have progressed.
